GLENBURN, Maine \u2014 The Glenburn Fire Department and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection responded to an oil spill on Pushaw Lake near Lakeside Landing.<\/p>\n
The fire department said<\/a> it first became aware of the incident through social media. The Maine DEP has since conducted a site evaluation of the spill.<\/p>\n Officials said environmental spills can be complex, especially during winter conditions that include freezing temperatures, ice, and snowfall.<\/p>\n Pushaw Lake is a key natural resource for the community, and officials said early notification of spills or other environmental concerns is critical to ensuring a timely response and protecting water quality, wildlife, shoreline areas and recreational access.<\/p>\n Officials urge residents who observe a spill or environmental hazard to report it promptly.
