{"id":61387,"date":"2025-07-13T04:52:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T04:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/61387\/"},"modified":"2025-07-13T04:52:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T04:52:10","slug":"andy-roddick-shares-what-he-would-be-telling-amanda-anisimova-right-now-if-he-was-coaching-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/61387\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Roddick shares what he would be telling Amanda Anisimova right now if he was coaching her"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Amanda Anisimova had dreamt of winning the Wimbledon title on Saturday, but the occasion quickly became a nightmare for her.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old American was outmatched from the very first game on Centre Court, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iga Swiatek<\/a> established her dominance in the final.<\/p>\n<p>Losing the first set 0-6, it seemed as though things could only get better for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/amanda-anisimova\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anisimova<\/a> in the second set as she made her maiden Grand Slam final appearance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2224790082-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Amanda Anisimova of the United States looks dejected against Iga Swiatek during the 2025 Wimbledon final\" class=\"wp-image-111351\" \/>Photo by Julian Finney\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t to be, however, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/amanda-anisimova-makes-first-comment-about-iga-swiatek-following-their-wimbledon-final-clash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anisimova fell to a humbling 0-6, 0-6 defeat<\/a> in the 2025 Wimbledon final.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the 13th seed\u2019s loss, former world number one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andy-roddick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andy Roddick<\/a> shared what he would be telling Anisimova if he were her coach.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Roddick would have told Amanda Anisimova that losing 0-6 is the same as losing 6-7<\/p>\n<p>During the latest edition of \u2018Quick Served\u2019, Roddick gave his verdict on Anisimova\u2019s 0-6, 0-6 defeat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0do want to celebrate the story of [Amanda] Anisimova. I know this is going to leave a mark. I\u2019ve got to think that it is going to be a little bit of hangover,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven one game is different from no games, and people are going to be obsessed with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Roddick proceeded to say what he would be telling Anisimova if he were her coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I was sitting here at 6-0 and I was like if I\u2019m her coach I am yelling that it is the same scoreline, it\u2019s the same as if you lost 7-6,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does not feel good because you got blown out and you have to find it in a hurry, but I would have been trying to negotiate something like 7-6 is almost worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou weren\u2019t close, let\u2019s just reset quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2224137295-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Amanda Anisimova wipes away tears after her Wimbledon final defeat to Iga Swiatek\" class=\"wp-image-111526\" \/>Photo by KIRILL KUDRYAVTSEV\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to return to action at the Washington Open in nine days\u2019 time, Anisimova will have to reset quickly, as she looks to bounce back from a tough defeat.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Wertheim has a theory on why Amanda Anisimova lost to Iga Swiatek so badly<\/p>\n<p>Roddick\u2019s co-host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jon-wertheim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jon Wertheim<\/a> was keen to weigh in with his thoughts, as he suggested two reasons behind Anisimova\u2019s Wimbledon final defeat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know how much of this is just the moment. 48 hours ago, she beat the number one player in the world and stared her down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was a mental toughness win, and she comes back.
