Jackson<\/a>\u2018s long-gestating \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/tulsa-king\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tulsa-king\" data-tag=\"tulsa-king\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tulsa King<\/a>\u201d spinoff is finally moving forward \u2014 but with a new title and setting. Paramount+ announced Tuesday that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/frisco-king\/\" id=\"auto-tag_frisco-king\" data-tag=\"frisco-king\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Frisco King<\/a>\u201d \u2014 formerly titled \u201cNOLA King\u201d \u2014 will start production next month in Ft. Worth, Texas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTulsa King\u201d creator <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/taylor-sheridan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_taylor-sheridan\" data-tag=\"taylor-sheridan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taylor Sheridan<\/a> is now set to write all eight episodes of \u201cFrisco King\u201d Season 1, which comes from Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. News that Sheridan would write all of \u201cFrisco King\u201d comes seven months after <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/tulsa-king-spinoff-nola-king-samuel-l-jackson-showrunner-1236450832\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Variety first broke the news<\/a> that original \u201cNOLA King\u201d showrunner Dave Erickson had exited the spinoff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of \u2018Frisco King\u2019 and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson\u2019s iconic character,\u201d said Paramount Television Studios prexy Matt Thunell. \u201cHaving him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of \u2018Tulsa King\u2019 and audiences around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBack when it was called \u201cNOLA King,\u201d the spinoff was to have been set in New Orleans. But with the title change also comes a setting change: \u201cFrisco King\u201d will mostly be set in Frisco, Texas. (According to insiders, the show will still briefly visit New Orleans, but the bulk of the story now takes place in Frisco.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tJackson was introduced to \u201cTulsa King\u201d viewers in Season 3 as Russell Lee Washington Jr., \u201cwho, after befriending Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) during a ten-year stint in federal prison, is sent to Tulsa by New York\u2019s Renzetti crime family to take Dwight out once and for all.\u201d Instead, per the original logline,  he\u2019s \u201cinspired by what Dwight created in Tulsa and impressed with the possibilities of second chances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSaid Paramount+ head of originals Jane Wiseman: \u201cTaylor Sheridan continues to build worlds that attract some of the most iconic talent working today, and \u2018Frisco King\u2019 is no exception. Having Samuel L. Jackson step into this universe is a testament to the scale and ambition of the storytelling Taylor is crafting. We\u2019re thrilled to expand this storyline with such a powerhouse creative team and cast on Paramount+.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tProduction was <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/tulsa-king-spinoff-nola-king-samuel-l-jackson-paramount-1236464061\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previously announced <\/a>to begin in early 2026; now, the word is cameras will start rolling late March in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSheridan, Stallone and Jackson are all EPs on \u201cFrisco King.\u201d David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Keith Cox also executive produce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tParamount+ noted that \u201cTulsa King\u201d hit Nielsen\u2019s top 10 streaming originals chart for eleven consecutive weeks in Fall 2025. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tJackson\u2019s recent TV output includes the Apple TV limited series \u201cThe Last Days of Ptolemy Grey,\u201d  the Marvel-Disney+ show \u201cSecret Invasion,\u201d and Peacock\u2019s \u201cFight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.\u201d He also previously voiced the title character in the animated series \u201cAfro Samurai.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Samuel L.
