CO-OP CITY, The Bronx (WABC) — One person was killed, and six others were injured in a crash involving three vehicles in the Bronx on Friday, according to police.<\/p>\n
Authorities say the crash happened at 5:25 p.m. at 2063 Bartow Ave. next to The Mall at Bay Plaza in Co-op City.<\/p>\n
Three cars were involved in the crash, including a silver Toyota Avalon driven by a 79-year-old man. Police say the Toyota was traveling westbound on Bartow Avenue when it collided with a black Hyundai Sonata, an Acura RDX and then a light pole. The Hyundai then struck an unoccupied car.<\/p>\n
He was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he is expected to be OK, but a 71-year-old female passenger suffered injuries to her head, and died Jacobi Hospital.<\/p>\n
A 38-year-old woman driving the Hyundai Sonata, and an 11-year-old boy who was a passenger in the vehicle, were both taken to Jacobi Hospital where they are expected to be OK.<\/p>\n
The third car in the crash, a white Acura RDX, was driven by a 34-year-old woman, who was carrying two passengers, a 24-year-old man in the front seat, and a 31-year-old man in the back seat. They were all taken to Jacobi Hospital where they are expected to be OK.<\/p>\n
“I saw one lady was out on the ground. They was giving her medical attention, checking her body. She was laid out.,” said Samuel Cherry.<\/p>\n
The sound of the crash caused one eyewitness to jump out of her skin.<\/p>\n
“It was a terrible sound — it was a terrible incident that happened,” said Jennifer.<\/p>\n
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
