Paramount Studios rolled out the red carpet for their upcoming horror sequel \u201cScream 7\u201d on Wednesday, only to be disrupted by pro-Palestine protesters.<\/p>\n
The iconic studio lot on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood hosted the premiere, with several protesters arriving with signs outside the lot in protest.<\/p>\n
One of the signs read, \u201cCancel Paramount +\u201d while another sign read, \u201cParamount has a blacklist of actors who criticize Israel,\u201d with others supporting former Scream star Melissa Barrera<\/a>, who was fired in 2023 for her support of Palestine<\/a>.<\/p>\n Paramount Studios rolled out the red carpet for their upcoming horror sequel \u201cScream 7\u201d on Wednesday, only to be disrupted by pro-Palestine protestors. Getty Images<\/p>\n The second sign was referring to a November report in Variety<\/a> that revealed the studio kept a list of actors and actresses they deemed to be, \u201coverly antisemitic,\u201d \u201cxenophobic,\u201d or \u201chomophobic.\u201d<\/p>\n A Deadline<\/a> report added that the protest was organized by Entertainment Labor for Palestine, CODEPINK LA, Musicians for Palestine, and Jewish Voice for Peace-Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Download The California Post App, follow us on social, and subscribe to our newsletters <\/strong><\/p>\n California Post News<\/strong>: Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>, TikTok<\/a>, X<\/a>, YouTube<\/a>, WhatsApp<\/a>, LinkedIn<\/a> CODEPINK LA issued a statement revealing the protest was meant to call, \u201cattention to the industry\u2019s widespread silencing of pro-Palestinian voices and its whitewashing of Israel\u2019s ongoing genocide in Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n The protest also comes more than two years after actress Melissa Barrera was fired from \u201cScream 7\u201d for her pro-Palestine social media posts.<\/p>\n Following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks and Israel\u2019s counter-attacks on the Gaza Strip, Barrera accused Israel of, \u201cgenocide and ethnic cleansing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
