{"id":617524,"date":"2026-02-26T12:47:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T12:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/617524\/"},"modified":"2026-02-26T12:47:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T12:47:13","slug":"israel-india-to-sign-new-economic-security-deals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/617524\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel, India to sign new economic, security deals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/benjamin-netanyahu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have overseen the signing of &#8220;a series of economic, security, and diplomatic agreements&#8221; during a press conference in Jerusalem on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Memorandums of understanding in the fields of agriculture, geophysical exploration, heritage, science, education, economy, cyber, technology, security, and artificial intelligence were signed by their respective ministers and counterparts, as well as India\u2019s Ambassador to Israel, J.P. Singh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The agreement also included allowing 50,000 Indian workers in the next five years, according to India&#8217;s Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;We know that the meeting of minds and hearts that we had here will continue,&#8221; Netanyahu said during the conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Modi also said that India will soon give final shape to a mutually beneficial free trade agreement with Israel, and that the two countries will pursue joint development, production, and technology transfer in defense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Ahead of the meeting, President Isaac Herzog welcomed Modi to Jerusalem and planted an oak tree in the President&#8217;s Residence in Jerusalem as a symbol of friendship, growth, and the building of a shared future between the two countries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"President Isaac Herzog and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi meet at the President's Residence in Jerusalem, February 26, 2026. (credit: Avi Kaner (GPO))<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The two also held a private meeting, during which Herzog thanked Modi for his support and friendship toward Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-888087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Netanyahu and Modi visited the Yad Vashem<\/a> Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, beginning their tour in the Hall of Names.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A memorial ceremony was held after the tour, during which Modi laid a wreath and placed a stone on the memorial to commemorate the victims lost in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/holocaust\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Holocaust<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Modi posted on Twitter\/X describing his visit to Yad Vashem and concluded it, &#8220;The Holocaust stands as one of humanity\u2019s darkest chapters. It is an eternal reminder of the need to uphold humanity, dignity, and peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modi: First Indian PM to address Knesset<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-887913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Modi arrived in Israel on Wednesday<\/a> and praised the shared bond between Israel and India during a Knesset plenum address, outlining plans to strengthen relations by working together in innovation, technology, and economic advancement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;The friendship between Israel and India remains a source of strength in an uncertain world,&#8221; Modi said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The speech marked the first time an Indian prime minister had ever addressed the Israeli parliament and was held shortly after Modi landed in the country for an official state visit.
