Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell had 27 sacks in his five-year college career, with 25 of those coming in his final three seasons. In 2025, Howell won SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors with 11.5 sacks.<\/p>\n
Shemar Stewart, who Howell played behind in 2024, had only 11 sacks in his three-year career at A&M but still went in the first round to the Bengals last year. Unlike Stewart, Howell\u2019s strength is production over potential.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like production has never been a real issue for me,\u201d Howell said. \u201cLike I said, I\u2019m going to do everything in my power to change that narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cnarrative\u201d is Howell\u2019s short arms.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s going to be interesting in a case study because he\u2019s got all the production,\u201d NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said. \u201cHe has really, really short arms. There are teams where people will say it\u2019s no big deal. Some teams care about it. That\u2019ll be interesting.<\/p>\n
\u201cTake the short arm part out of it, and I think he might run in the low 4.5s or possibly even faster than that. He\u2019s a freak in terms of how explosive he is.\u201d<\/p>\n
The concern is Howell\u2019s 30 1\/4-inch arm measurement \u2014 the shortest of any edge rusher since at least 1999 \u2014 could impact his ability to create separation in the NFL. Howell, though, doesn\u2019t expect it to be a problem since it\u2019s never been a problem for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, you know, I have shorter arms,\u201d Howell said. \u201cBut I feel like I\u2019m made in the name, image and likeness of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That\u2019s just the cards that I was dealt.
