President Donald Trump<\/strong> is inviting multiple college sports figures to a roundtable at the White House next week, Yahoo! Sports\u2019 Ross Dellenger reported<\/a>. The group includes former Alabama<\/a><\/strong> coach Nick Saban<\/a><\/strong>, former Florida<\/a><\/strong> star Tim Tebow<\/a><\/strong> and Texas Tech<\/a><\/strong> booster Cody Campbell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trump has been vocal about his willingness to play a role in settling the college athletics landscape in the NIL<\/a> and transfer portal<\/a> era. Saban and Campbell were previously expected to spearhead a presidential commission on college sports, though those plans were later paused. The roundtable is expected to take place March 6, Dellenger reported.<\/p>\n

On3\u2019s Pete Nakos<\/a><\/strong> confirmed the power conference commissioners \u2013 the Big Ten\u2019s Tony Petitti<\/strong>, the SEC\u2019s Greg Sankey<\/strong>, the Big 12\u2019s Brett Yormark<\/strong> and the ACC\u2019s Jim Phillips<\/strong> \u2013 are all set to receive invitations. The list of invitees also includes former Florida and Ohio State<\/a><\/strong> coach Urban Meyer<\/a><\/strong>, Notre Dame<\/a><\/strong> athletics director Pete Bevacqua<\/strong> and Tennessee<\/a><\/strong> chancellor Donde Plowman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bevacqua\u2019s predecessor, Jack Swarbrick<\/strong>, was also invited, along with at least one athletics director from each Power Four conference. ADs from Wake Forest<\/a><\/strong>, Indiana<\/a><\/strong>, Iowa State<\/a><\/strong> and Oklahoma<\/a><\/strong> are part of the group.<\/p>\n

Other prominent figures from outside college sports were also invited, according to Dellenger. Golf legend Tiger Woods<\/strong>, two-time U.S. Open champion golfer Bryson DeChambeau<\/strong>, NBA commissioner Adam Silver<\/strong> and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice<\/strong> also received invitations to the roundtable. Trump is expected to serve as chair alongside Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis<\/strong> and New York Yankees president Randy Levine<\/strong> as vice chairs.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump outspoken about NIL<\/p>\n

Throughout 2025, President Donald Trump made his thoughts clear on the state of college athletics and signed an executive order<\/a> related to college sports to take aim at third-party\u00a0NIL\u00a0deals and pay-for-play allegations. He also held conversations with Saban, and earlier this month, he played a round of golf<\/a> with the legendary Alabama coach, Meyer and DeSantis.<\/p>\n

Late last year, Trump addressed the state of college sports, in particular the amount of money schools are paying athletes. He also doubled down on his willingness to step in<\/a>, if necessary.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re going to have these colleges wipe themselves out, and something ought to be done,\u201d\u00a0Trump said<\/a>. \u201cAnd I\u2019m willing to put the federal government behind it. But if it\u2019s not done fast, you\u2019re going to wipe out colleges. They\u2019re going to get wiped out, including ones that do well in football.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey can\u2019t pay $12 million, $14 million, $10 million, $6 million for players. They won\u2019t be able to stop. There\u2019ll always be that one player, they only have that player, they\u2019re going to win the national championship. And they\u2019ll have 100 colleges thinking the same thing. Colleges cannot afford to play this game.
