More than 50 local artists are confirmed to display their work at the annual art show, all of which will pay tribute to all things horror. Players<\/a> opens their production of <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorge.vbotickets.com\/event\/The_Wizard_of_Oz\/134116\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Wizard of Oz<\/a> at The George Theater. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adplayers.org\/jayme-mcghan-about\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jayme McGhan<\/a>, the executive artistic director of A.D. Players, recently told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Press<\/a>, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/arts\/preview-the-wizard-of-oz-at-ad-players-20702246\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">We wanted to have a show in the season that was nostalgic, that had a little bit of magic, that could test our production value and our production team a little bit and stretch our muscles theatrically. It&#8217;s a really big cast, a really big crew, really big designs.<\/a>\u201d Performances will continue at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through August 10. Tickets are available <a href=\"https:\/\/thegeorge.vbotickets.com\/event\/The_Wizard_of_Oz\/134116\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> for $25 to $61.25.<\/p>\n<p>     Miss Jane Marple, for the first time since her character appeared in an Agatha Christie short story back in 1927, will appear on a U.S. stage when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleytheatre.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alley Theatre<\/a> opens the U.S. premiere of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleytheatre.org\/plays\/mirror-crackd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Mirror Crack&#8217;d<\/a> on Friday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. Speaking to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Press<\/a>, Susan Koozin, who will play Miss Marple in the production, says that though Miss Marple \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/arts\/preview-agatha-christies-the-mirror-crackd-at-alley-theatre-20797375\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">appears to be grandmotherly<\/a>,\u201d what makes her \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/arts\/preview-agatha-christies-the-mirror-crackd-at-alley-theatre-20797375\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fascinating is she&#8217;s quite often the brightest in the room. I think she\u2019s underestimated; she&#8217;s overlooked. Well, <a href=\"https:\/\/mainstreettheater.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Main Street Theater<\/a> will open Patrick Barlow\u2019s adaptation of the John Buchan novel (turned Alfred Hitchcock film), <a href=\"https:\/\/mainstreettheater.com\/the-39-steps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The 39 Steps<\/a>, on Saturday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/chrisszetojoevo.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Szeto-Joe<\/a>, who will play nine characters in the production, spoke to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Press<\/a> and attributed the continued popularity of the show \u2013 despite its well-known ending \u2013 to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/arts\/preview-39-steps-at-main-street-theater-20766542\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the chaos, the humor, the spectacle of getting there<\/a>,\u201d adding that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpress.com\/arts\/preview-39-steps-at-main-street-theater-20766542\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the way it satirizes the very popular spy thriller genre just tickles people.
