Donald Trump<\/a> claimed during his lie-packed State of the Union address<\/a> this week that the U.S. women\u2019s ice hockey team \u2014 whom he recently sparked backlash over with what critics called a \u201cdistasteful\u201d joke \u2014 would, after all, be heading to the White House to celebrate their gold medal win at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

But one of the team\u2019s biggest stars didn\u2019t exactly confirm that.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s episode of CNN<\/a>\u2019s \u201cThe Story Is With Elex Michaelson<\/a>,\u201d anchor Elex Michaelson asked MVP Caroline Harvey whether the invitation was \u201ctrue\u201d and if a date had been set.<\/p>\n

Michaelson: President Trump said that the women’s team is coming to the WH. Is that true? <\/p>\n

Harvey: I’m not sure\u2026 I haven’t heard any word on that<\/p>\n

Michaelson: Would you go?<\/p>\n

Harvey, a defenseman for the University of Wisconsin, said she was \u201cunsure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure,\u201d the athlete continued. \u201cObviously, right now we\u2019re all back with our respective teams, pro or college. But I haven\u2019t heard any word on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michaelson then asked whether she would attend if invited.<\/p>\n

She replied: \u201cI mean, I\u2019m just busy right now with school and obviously, like you said, we\u2019ve got a championship to win here, and we\u2019ve got a lot of stuff ahead of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, personally, I need to finish out school and take care of business in that way,?\u201d she added. \u201cBut, yeah, I feel like I have my hands pretty tied right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harvey\u2019s response quickly drew attention online, where some commenters suggested it was a politely worded brush-off.<\/p>\n

It came amid ongoing fallout over members of the gold medal-winning U.S. men\u2019s team response<\/a> to Trump\u2019s call on Sunday, when the president joked about having to bring the equally successful women\u2019s squad to the capital too or else he\u2019d \u201cbe impeached.\u201d<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s team visited the White House on Tuesday, when Trump tried on one of the gold medals, joked about keeping it <\/a>and then served up McDonald\u2019s<\/a> to the squad.<\/p>\n
