The Trump administration has wielded threats of litigation and federal cuts against universities throughout the country for allegations of antisemitism. <\/p>\n
As of March 2025, the Trump administration launched antisemitic-related investigations into at least 55 universities throughout the country, according to the Education Department.<\/p>\n
Antisemitism Defense League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt says the federal government has an obligation to uphold laws like the Civil Rights Act but cautioned against total federal authority.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t want to see overreach, so we gotta see a balance. When done correctly it can be very effective. And when done incorrectly it can be damaging,” Greenblatt told KJZZ. <\/p>\n
ASU President Michael Crow mirrored Greenblatt\u2019s perspective. But he says federal involvement can only be assessed by a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n
