While Houston itself isn\u2019t under a flood watch, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio are under flood watches until 7 PM tonight. A marginal flash flood risk covers parts of our viewing area, including Katy, Bush, Brenham, The Woodlands, and Conroe<\/p>\n<p>Flash Flood Risk (Copyright 2025 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>Flood Watch: San Antonio and Austin areas:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Flood watch in effect through 7 PM Sunday. Locally heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding across portions of south-central Texas. A weak upper-level system combined with above-normal moisture may lead to heavy localized rainfall and rapid runoff.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Rainfall Totals: Most areas can expect 2\u20134 inches, but isolated storms could dump 9\u201312 inches in areas with saturated soils, particularly Kerr County, which has already been hit hard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>Dallas\/Fort Worth:<\/b> Flood watch in effect until 7 PM tonight, with rainfall totals of 1\u20133 inches and isolated storms potentially producing 4\u20136 inches.<\/p>\n<p>Flash Flood Risk (Copyright 2025 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Here is what we are watching and tracking in our area &#8211; we could get another .10\u2033 of rain, however isolated thunderstorms could produce more rain today. <\/p>\n<p>Showers and storms fire up mainly west of HoustonShowers and storms push into Harris county and move north<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">We\u2019re tracking another chance of downpours as we sit between two high-pressure systems, fueling a stormy Sunday, for some not all. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The best way to think about why we\u2019ll see rain chances increase is to think of the jet stream as a rope. With high pressure dominating west and east of us, it pushes the jet stream up, which will create a dip in the upper-level flow across Texas. <\/p>\n<p>Low pressure trough and gulf moisture trigger rain across Texas<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">For the next 3 days, we\u2019ll track for the chance for rain with a break, hopefully, by mid-week.<\/p>\n<p>Rain chances gradually decrease<b>Tracking the tropics:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">A 20% chance of cyclone formation looms. We\u2019re monitoring a trough of low pressure near the southeastern coast, expected to move westward across Florida into the northeastern Gulf by Tuesday.
