County<\/a>, and the legacy of the <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/food\/story\/2026-02-23\/chef-joseph-joe-randall-trailblazing-dean-of-southern-cuisine-dies-at-79\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Dean of Southern cuisine\u2019 chef Joe Randall<\/a>, who died at 79 after spending a half-century of amplifying African American culinary traditions. In Inglewood, <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/food\/story\/2026-02-25\/inglewood-restaurant-serving-spoon-receives-americas-classic-james-beard-award-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Serving Spoon won the America\u2019s Classic in California award<\/a> from the James Beard Foundation, and will receive a medal at the ceremony this June.<\/p>\n<p>With summer temperatures and clear skies this weekend, it\u2019s hard to believe that just weeks ago, the city was hit with <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2026-02-16\/first-wave-of-nearly-week-of-rain-hits-southern-california-snow-expected-for-mammoth-tahoe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a week of heavy rainstorms<\/a>. Several restaurants across the region were <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/food\/story\/2026-02-24\/los-angeles-restaurants-grapple-flood-damage-after-winter-storm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">forced to temporarily close due to flooding<\/a>, resulting in revenue loss and expensive repairs. <\/p>\n<p>March brings the start of spring, which means we\u2019re already seeing seasonal produce such as asparagus, peas and apricots appear on our favorite  menus.
