Scores of Iranian-Americans cheered the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei<\/a> in New York City Sunday after the despot and a cadre of his goons were were killed in a US-Israeli strike in Tehran \u2014 with similar celebrations erupting in other cities across the globe.<\/p>\n

About 500 people flocked to Midtown in the afternoon chanting \u201cUSA! USA! USA!\u201d and \u201cTRUMP, TRUMP! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!\u201d \u2014 and also carrying banners reading \u201cMake Iran Great Again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group was headed toward Times Square while waving the Iranian Lion and Sun flag, which was banned after the 1979 Islamic Revolution sent the Middle Eastern nation into an era of violent oppression.<\/p>\n

Demonstrators even sang the old Iranian national anthem, celebrating the most major blow Iran\u2019s regime of terror suffered in its nearly 50 years<\/a> \u2014 the death of its decades-long ruler Khamenei, who was killed Saturday by a crushing US-Israel strike that also eliminated over 40 top officials.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt home they don\u2019t call this \u2018war.\u2019 They are calling this \u2018human rescue,’\u201d said 45-year-old Ramin Sohrab, who lives in Connecticut.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here to thank the president \u2014 President Trump, and all the military,\u201d Sohrab said.<\/p>\n

And the celebrations weren\u2019t limited to the streets of the United States \u2014 families across the globe in Iran were also cheering the sprawling strikes after weeks of protests there were met with violence and widespread executions from Khamenei\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators thanked President Trump for the strikes, carried out Saturday alongside Israeli forces. REUTERS<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to my mom this morning and she said we know the military action is the only option,\u201d 37-year-old Reza Ebrahimi told The Post. \u201cShe told me she would rather sacrifice her life that the world be safe. My brother was shot on the second day of the protests.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are the voice of our families who are over there and cannot speak. We all have family over there. We are the voice of the people in Iran who cannot speak right now,\u201d the Iranian-American said, adding that the US was \u201crescuing the Iranian people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nehzat Lavvaf, 47, spoke to her mother in Iran, where she said many people are sheltering in place as bombs continue to fall \u2014 and are ignoring Iranian state TV stations she claims are urging people to go outside in an attempt to increase civilian casualty counts for anti-US propaganda.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government or state TV is saying to go outside \u2014 don\u2019t stay inside your home. They are ignoring the state TV,\u201d Lavvaf said. \u201cThey say the state TV they want to kill the innocent people. That\u2019s why they want them to go outside. It is crazy. But they said they will listen to President Trump and stay inside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many of the marchers said family back in Iran were also celebrating the death of Khamenei and much of his regime. REUTERS<\/p>\n

But Lavvaf\u2019s family said they are celebrating the strikes even as they shelter from the bombs.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother said she is so happy to hear that we are having the celebration. She is so happy to hear that we are celebrating the death of Khomeini today,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all out here today to thank Trump to thank the USA. We changed all the music to dance music,\u201d she said. \u201cWe have been all waiting for this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Celebrations broke out in other cities across<\/a> the US \u2014 including Los Angeles \u2014 while across the world hundreds turned out in the likes of London, Paris and Canada.<\/p>\n

In London, cheering demonstrators waved Israeli flags alongside the Iranian Lion and Sun flag \u2014 in a rare show of comity between two people who have been divided by rivalry and war.<\/p>\n

Some in NYC reported seeing some people protesting the strikes throughout the day \u2014 but said none appeared to consist of actual Iranians.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were white people and Palestinians but I saw no people from Iran,\u201d said Ebrahimi. \u201cI spoke to no people at the protest yesterday who were from Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n
