{"id":62772,"date":"2025-07-13T17:34:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T17:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/62772\/"},"modified":"2025-07-13T17:34:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T17:34:09","slug":"environment-canada-warns-severe-thunderstorm-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/62772\/","title":{"rendered":"Environment Canada warns severe thunderstorm watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto is under a <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/en\/location\/index.html?coords=43.655,-79.383\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/en\/location\/index.html?coords=43.655,-79.383\">\u201csevere thunderstorm watch\u201d<\/a> as Environment Canada warns of potentially dangerous weather, including torrential rain, hail and damaging wind gusts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cSlow moving showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain into this afternoon,\u201d the agency said late Sunday morning. \u201cHail and strong wind gusts are also possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Officials say hazards could include rainfall amounts of up to 50 mm in some areas, hail up to the size of a nickel, and strong winds capable of damaging trees, property, or even overturning vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cLightning kills and injures Canadians every year,\u201d Environment Canada cautioned. \u201cWhen thunder roars, go indoors!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The storms are expected to continue with the risk of flash flooding and reduced visibility. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Emergency Management Ontario is advising residents to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches and to avoid driving through flooded roadways.<\/p>\n<p>Police warn of \u2018water pooling\u2019 on DVP<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police also issued a warning just after 10:30 a.m. about &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TPSOperations\/status\/1944409206850748632\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TPSOperations\/status\/1944409206850748632\">water pooling&#8221; on the Don Valley Parkway<\/a> near the Gardiner Expressway.
