After both teams took the ice, Ovechkin received his own personal introduction as highlights from his days with the KHL\u2019s Dynamo Moscow and goals with the Washington Capitals played around the arena.<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2025\/04\/06\/alex-ovechkin-breaks-wayne-gretzkys-nhl-goals-record-against-islanders-with-895th-career-goal\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scored career goal number 895<\/a> to surpass Gretzky against the New York Islanders on April 6.<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin jumped on the ice, waving and applauding the crowd, and then gave fist bumps to all of the players on both benches.<\/p>\n<p>The organizers of the event also gifted the 39-year-old legendary winger a new car. Ovechkin was presented with his new wheels, which appear to be a Jetour T2 4\u00d74 Premium SUV, after it was driven out onto the ice.<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin has been gifted a car before, when back in his homeland, <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2023\/05\/18\/alex-ovechkin-surprised-with-new-car-at-khl-awards-show-admits-hes-not-sure-what-to-do-with-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">receiving a Lada Niva Travel at the KHL\u2019s end-of-season award show in 2023<\/a>. The Great 8,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2013\/12\/03\/alex-ovechkins-parents-dont-know-why-he-needs-seven-cars\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">who once had a collection of seven cars<\/a>, has previously admitted that his main hobby is collecting cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[It\u2019s my] main hobby, my dream, and there is nothing I can do about it,\u201d Ovechkin <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2023\/05\/18\/alex-ovechkin-surprised-with-new-car-at-khl-awards-show-admits-hes-not-sure-what-to-do-with-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said in 2013<\/a>. \u201cThe more [cars] the better, but in fact my parents already tell me: \u2018Sasha, why do you need so many?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin also famously campaigned for another free car at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game.
