Bathhouse is set to open in 2028 <\/p>\n

The former Sunset Boulevard location of Amoeba Music\u00a0has a future as\u00a0a health and wellness\u00a0hub.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Projected to open in early 2028,\u00a0New York City-based Bathhouse will\u00a0transform\u00a0the\u00a0once music epicenter into an\u00a0indoor-outdoor,\u00a0social-wellness third home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

First opened in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn in 2019,\u00a0Bathhouse<\/a>\u00a0ditches the notion of solitary rejuvenation for one rooted in community. A typical visit might include\u00a0a deep-tissue based massage, followed by a cold plunge and sauna with friends.\u00a0Founders Travis Talmadge and Jason Goodman consider it the\u00a0\u201canti-spa\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0opened\u00a0a secondary\u00a0location in Manhattan\u2019s Flatiron neighborhood in 2024.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Given the prevalence of Los Angeles\u2019 wellness-focused culture, they figured it only made sense to make\u00a0its\u00a0West Coast roots here.\u00a0And the vacant Amoeba Music building offered the perfect\u00a0foundation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe try to design epic\u00a0spaces\u00a0and the bones of the building\u00a0accommodate\u00a0our design concepts really well,\u201d Talmadge shared over email.\u00a0\u201cThe building\u00a0has huge floor plates and extremely\u00a0high ceilings, which allows us to build incredible saunas,\u00a0pools\u00a0and\u00a0amenity areas.\u00a0We also wanted to do a really\u00a0large-scale\u00a0outdoor component in L.A., and the building has a\u00a030,000-square-foot\u00a0roof that we plan to program the majority of.\u00a0 It has\u00a0a great view\u00a0of the Hollywood sign on one side,\u00a0and you can see all the way to Santa Monica on the other.\u00a0We love the location.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0hard to pick one location that is convenient for everyone in L.A., but this is about as central as it gets.\u00a0\u00a0Hollywood is also one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the world, and\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0excited to be in that market.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles\u00a0outpost will mark Bathhouse\u2019s largest location\u00a0to date\u00a0at about 85,000\u00a0square feet. It\u00a0will include seven saunas and steam rooms (including one for approximately 250 people), about 10 thermal pools, all-day\u00a0hours\u00a0and a beverage program and concessions on the expansive rooftop.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Furthermore,\u00a0Talmadge notes that while a solo sit in the sauna can be a revitalizing, enjoying it with others enhances\u00a0the experience\u00a0similar to\u00a0\u201ca great concert versus listening to music on your own.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity is\u00a0kind of a wonderful byproduct of the experience, but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not something we try and force,\u201d Talmadge said.\u00a0\u201c\u2019Bathhousing\u2019 is about as fundamental of a human experience as you can have.\u00a0You get really\u00a0hot;\u00a0you get really cold.\u00a0You spend time in the water. Inevitably, you feel your state\u00a0change. Socializing is also a human trait, so those two things really go together.
