Evil Dead<\/strong> star Bruce Campbell<\/strong> recently took to social media to share that he has been diagnosed with cancer. He said that while he would not go into much detail about his diagnosis, he wanted to let fans know that his professional commitments would take a backseat during treatment.<\/p>\n

Hoping to avoid misinformation, Campbell chose to publicly share the news himself, clarifying that he is not seeking \u201csympathy\u201d or \u201cadvice.\u201d He reassured fans around the world that he would be back on his feet soon, adding that he considers himself a strong person.<\/p>\n

Campbell took to Instagram to share a post with a lengthy message, informing that he has been diagnosed with cancer. He began by addressing the situation in general terms, saying that when someone faces a health issue, it is often described as an \u201copportunity,\u201d and he is choosing to stick with that. While confirming that he has cancer, Campbell noted that it is \u201ctreatable\u201d but not \u201ccurable.\u201d He knows that this news might come as a \u201cshock\u201d to many, as it did to him.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThe good news is, I\u2019m not going to go into any more detail. I\u2019m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change \u2013 appearances and cons and work in general need to take [a] back seat to treatment.\u201d He expressed hopes to get well soon over the summer so that he gets the chance to tour his new movie, Ernie & Emma.<\/p>\n

Campbell further revealed that there are several \u201ccons\u201d this summer that he was required to cancel in light of his treatment. This is because he firmly believes that treatment and \u201cprofessional obligations don\u2019t go hand-in-hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Revealing why he chose to go public with his diagnosis, he added, \u201cThat\u2019s about it. I\u2019m not trying to enlist sympathy \u2013 or advice \u2013 I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-b***h and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while. As always, you\u2019re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!\u201d he stated, reassuring fans concerned over his health.<\/p>\n
