Mackenzie Blackwood made 19 saves for Colorado, which has won five of seven.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/kings\/player\/brandt-clarke-8482730\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brandt Clarke<\/a> had a power-play goal, Angus Booth scored in his NHL debut, and <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/kings\/player\/anton-forsberg-8476341\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Anton Forsberg<\/a> made 35 saves for the Kings, who were playing their first game since <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/hockey\/kings\/story\/2026-03-01\/kings-fire-coach-jim-hiller-amid-teams-ongoing-struggles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">firing coach Jim Hiller on Sunday<\/a> and replacing him on an interim basis with D.J. Smith.<\/p>\n<p>The Kings were also missing seven key players because of injury or illness, including medalists from the Olympic hockey tournament at the Milan-Cortina Games in defenseman <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/kings\/player\/drew-doughty-8474563\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Drew Doughty<\/a>, forwards <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/kings\/player\/joel-armia-8476469\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Joel Armia<\/a> and Quinton Byfield and goalie <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/kings\/player\/darcy-kuemper-8475311\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Darcy Kuemper<\/a>. Those absences led to the Kings giving three players their NHL debuts in Booth, center Kenny Connors and winger Jared Wright.<\/p>\n<p>With Kuemper ill, the Kings also recalled Erik Portillo to back up Forsberg.
