Transit detectives are looking for the suspect behind a slashing at a Bronx subway station last month amid a citywide uptick in crime underground.<\/p>\n

Transit detectives are looking for the suspect behind a slashing at a Bronx<\/a> subway station last month amid a citywide uptick in crime underground.\n<\/p>\n

The NYPD<\/a> released images Tuesday of the female perpetrator sought for the attack at the Burnside Avenue station on the 4 line at 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 3.\n<\/p>\n

Police reported that the suspect approached the victim, a 41-year-old woman, on the Manhattan-bound platform and engaged her in a verbal dispute. The reason for the argument was not disclosed.\n<\/p>\n

Things turned bloody, cops said, when the perpetrator pulled out a box cutter and went on the attack, slashing the other woman in the left arm.\n<\/p>\n

After the assault, the suspect fled from the station on foot to an unknown location, police reported.

Officers from the 46th Precinct<\/a> and NYPD Transit District 11 responded to the scene. The victim went via private means to Bronx Care Health System for treatment and was listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n

The assault happened during a recent rise in crime throughout the subway system<\/a>. The NYPD reported on Monday that 192 transit crimes occurred in February 2026, 30 more than the total reported in February 2025 \u2014 accounting for an 18.6% increase.<\/p>\n

Police sources attributed the uptick in subway crime to felony assaults and nonviolent grand larcenies.\n<\/p>\n

As for the Feb. 3 attack, police described the suspect involved as a woman who was last seen wearing a black hat, a black jacket, a gray sweatshirt and black sweatpants.\n<\/p>\n
