On Sunday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings faced off for just the second time this season, with Indiana taking the first meeting with a 94-86 victory on June 27 in Dallas.<\/p>\n

However, Sunday’s contest carried extra weight as it was the first time that Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, two of the WNBA’s brightest young stars and former NCAA legends, faced off at the professional level.<\/p>\n

While all eyes may have been on both stars at the beginning of the game, it was Clark who quickly stole the show.<\/p>\n

With 6:58 remaining in the second quarter, Clark rose to meet a driving layup attempt by JJ Quinerly, emphatically swatting it away.<\/p>\n

The Fever promptly shared the moment on X with the caption, “swatted \ud83d\ude24 big-time block from Caitlin Clark.”<\/p>\n

The post garnered tens of thousands of views in moments and sent social media ablaze.<\/p>\n

Entering Sunday\u2019s showdown, Clark has continued her blistering run as the new face of the WNBA.<\/p>\n

Despite missing some time with injury, she has averaged 16.9 points, 8.6 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 11 contests, coming into Sunday’s game, numbers which recently earned her a second consecutive All-Star nod.<\/p>\n

Now a year removed from winning Rookie of the Year and All-WNBA honors, in her first professional season nonetheless, Clark has again proven why she remains one of the needle movers of the WNBA.<\/p>\n
