{"id":630431,"date":"2026-03-04T01:02:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T01:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/630431\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T01:02:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T01:02:16","slug":"liquidators-of-queensland-indoor-arenas-continue-investigation-into-61m-tax-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/630431\/","title":{"rendered":"Liquidators of Queensland Indoor Arenas continue investigation into $61m tax debt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A Queensland indoor sporting company owes creditors $2.6 million on top of a $61 million debt with the tax office following its collapse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Queensland Indoor Arenas, owned by Colin and Ashlee Kinnest, ran indoor sports centres in Bundaberg, Brisbane and Logan until its companies went into liquidation late last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The Australian Tax Office (ATO) <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-10-25\/onlyfans-sugar-daddy-and-wife-assets-frozen-61-million-tax-case\/105918188\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/105918188\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">is pursuing $61 million in debt and penalties<\/a> owed by companies Bundaberg Indoor Sports and Kinnest Family PTY LTD, and their director Colin Kinnest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The ATO alleges the companies lodged false business activity statements and claimed more than $39 million in refunds.<\/p>\n<p>Liquidators sell businesses<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Kinnest and his wife Ashlee Kinnest&#8217;s ownership of $10 million worth of properties was frozen by the Federal Court in September.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A man and woman in an indoor sport centre holding two young children, whose faces have been blurred, in their arms.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/b196450446782a9a24628c0f4470b416.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Colin and Ashlee Kinnest bought a swathe of properties across Queensland while expanding their indoor sports centre business. (Supplied)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Cameron John Woodcroft and Bradley Vincent Hellen, of Pilot Partners, were appointed by Mr Kinnest as liquidators of the companies in November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The ABC understands two businesses, an indoor sports centre at Strathpine and a beach volleyball venue in Bundaberg, have sold to new owners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Woodcroft said the liquidation process was ongoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We are continuing to conduct our investigations into the affairs of the company and the circumstances leading up to the liquidation,&#8221; said Mr Woodcroft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Documents lodged to ASIC show the Kinnest Family Pty Ltd owed more than $430,000 to employees in wages and superannuation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"People playing beach volley ball inside.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/087508509fe7965cf551e2119c337db4.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Colin and Ashlee Kinnest have a sports centre at Springwood in Logan, south of Brisbane. (Supplied)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The reports also detail a list of at least 140 secured and unsecured creditors, which included $39,000 owed to the Indoor Netball Federation of Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The document also shows $10,517 is owed in rates to Bundaberg Regional Council, $1,015,318 to Money Renters Pty Ltd and $13,998 to WorkCover Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Woodcroft said his investigation into the company&#8217;s finances was continuing and he urged other creditors to come forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Our responsibilities as liquidators include identifying and recovering assets, assessing creditor claims, and reviewing any transactions that may be recoverable for the benefit of creditors,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Impact to community sports<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Indoor Cricket Federation of Queensland President Stephen Mogg said the business collapse had impacted the sporting organisations that used the facilities.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"EmphasisedText_quote__TE6kn\"><p>&#8220;To lose four indoor sports centres in Queensland has really, really impacted our industry quite negatively,&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He said there were potentially thousands of players across indoor cricket, indoor netball, futsal, and junior sports who had also lost their community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Mogg said players remained hopeful other venues would sell and reopen at some stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;They are community-based places \u2026 where people not only go to be active, fit and healthy, but to socialise as well,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The front entrance of a sports center at Springwood.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1fd733f0256b4233fbad4a9753a6e2d8.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">QIA Springwood was closed by liquidators in December.
