{"id":630808,"date":"2026-03-04T04:45:50","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T04:45:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/630808\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T04:45:50","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T04:45:50","slug":"trump-vows-to-cut-off-all-trade-with-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/630808\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump vows to cut off &#8216;all trade&#8217; with Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/03\/us-news\/trump-admin-live-updates-march-3-4-5-26\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">President Trump railed Tuesday<\/a> against NATO allies that refused to allow the US to use their bases to attack Iran, declaring he was going to \u201ccut off all trade with Spain\u201d and denouncing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as \u201cno Winston Churchill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump became visibly angry during his sitdown with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, spending several minutes blasting America\u2019s European allies and arguing that they don\u2019t spend enough on defense.<\/p>\n<p>He also had harsh words for Starmer, showing a strain in his relationship with the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/03\/world-news\/war-with-iran-live-updates-march-3-4-5-26\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Follow live updates on the US and Israel\u2019s war with Iran<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpain has been terrible,\u201d President Trump said. \u201cSpain actually said that we can\u2019t use their bases.\u201d Pictured with Spain\u2019s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. via REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not Winston Churchill that we\u2019re dealing with,\u201d Trump said of the Labour prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>The two leaders have been exchanging harsh words since Starmer denied Trump permission to use UK military bases in the first wave of attacks on Iran Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>And the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/02\/world-news\/uk-prime-minister-starmer-hits-back-at-trump-over-iran-strikes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prime minister denounced the bombardment in his House of Commons on Monday<\/a> in a speech being called his \u201cLove Actually\u201d moment, referring to a scene in the movie where the British PM, played by Hugh Grant, stood up to a bullying American president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis government does not believe in regime change from the skies,\u201d Starmer declared. \u201cIt is my duty to judge what is in Britain\u2019s national interest. That is what I have done. And I stand by it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some professed shock at Starmer\u2019s words, given his previously cozy relationship with Trump, including arranging a lavish state visit with a white-tie dinner hosted by the King at Windsor Castle. But others praised the prime minister, whose government is on the brink of losing re-election due to the high cost-of-living in Britain and other <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/05\/world-news\/uk-prime-minister-facing-major-leadership-crisis-over-latest-epstein-scandal-starmer-has-to-go\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scandals involving the late sex predator, Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke out against the military action in Iran during a speech at the House of Commons on March 2, 2026.
