Kyle Rittenhouse \u2014\u00a0the pro-gun activist acquitted for shooting and killing two Black Lives Matter protesters \u2014 joined congressional Republican candidate Brandon \u201cAK Guy\u201d Herrera over the weekend for his final get-out-the-vote push. <\/p>\n

Rittenhouse gained national attention in 2020 after shooting three men, resulting in two fatalities, at a racial justice demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was later acquitted of the charges.<\/p>\n

Rittenhouse joined Herrera knocking on doors Sunday as the online gun influencer faces off against scandal-mired incumbent U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, who represents Texas\u2019 District 23. The district stretches west from San Antonio to El Paso.<\/p>\n

Gonzales lost some favor among gun enthusiasts for supporting background checks for firearms buyers under 21 following the massacre at Uvalde\u2019s Robb Elementary School, which is his district. The congressman beat Herrera by just 400 votes when he faced him in a runoff following the 2024 primary.<\/p>\n

Gonzales appears even more vulnerable now due to recent headlines alleging the married congressman carried on an affair with a staffer, who later committed suicide by lighting herself on fire. Herrera has called on his rival to resign over the reports and their fallout. <\/p>\n

\u201cDoor knocking with friends and volunteers, giving it everything we\u2019ve got to make sure we win and win BIG on Tuesday, March 3rd,\u201d Herrera tweeted, sharing a photo of his crew block walking with Rittenhouse.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not only going to retire sex pest Tony Gonzales once and for all, but we\u2019re going to show the Democrats that Texas is strong and not for sale,\u201d Herrera added.<\/p>\n

Not everyone was thrilled with Herrera\u2019s campaigning companion, however.<\/p>\n

\u201cShame on you for having that LOSER murderer with you. He murdered 2 innocent fathers and you treat that LOSER like a hero. Sickening,\u201d @JamesPMNFan posted in reply.<\/p>\n

Since he rose to national prominence after the shooting, Rittenhouse has become a self-styled Second Amendment advocate, making it little surprise he stumped for Herrera, who has 4.2 million subscribers on his gun-focused YouTube channel. <\/p>\n

On the channel, Herrera tests guns and reenacts famous assassination attempts, such as \u201cTrump\u2019s earshot\u201d and the murder of Abraham Lincoln. His controversial online takes have also included jokes about the Holocaust and veteran suicide.<\/p>\n
