Alabama<\/a> will be without a Freshman All-SEC team selection when it opens spring practice on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer<\/a> told Bama247 on Wednesday that London Simmons<\/a> will be out as he recovers from an injury. It’s not expected to impact his availability for the start of the season, however.<\/p>\n

Simmons played every game last season and made two starts. He recorded 19 tackles\u00a0and 1.5 sacks.<\/p>\n

Also out for the spring will be often used reserve offensive lineman William Sanders<\/a>, who is recovering from a back injury, and backup tight end Danny Lewis<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jah-Marien Latham<\/a>, whom DeBoer said received a waiver for an extra year of eligibility, will also miss the spring. After missing most of last season with a neck injury, he\u2019s\u00a0expected back for the fall.<\/p>\n

DeBoer said Sanders, who logged 177 snaps on offense last season and is expected to be compete for a starting job at offensive guard, will be ready for the fall.<\/p>\n

Alabama is replacing four of its five starters on the offensive line from last season.<\/p>\n

Star defensive backs Bray Hubbard<\/a> and Zabien Brown<\/a>\u00a0will begin spring in a limited capacity, DeBoer said.<\/p>\n

Hubbard, an All-SEC selection and Third Team All-American, is a key returning starter. Rather than enter the NFL draft, he opted to return for his senior season.<\/p>\n

Brown, a former Freshman All-SEC selection who notched two pick-sixes as a sophomore, returns as one of the top corners in the country.<\/p>\n

Alabama is especially deep in the secondary where starters, Keon Sabb<\/a> (safety), Red Morgan<\/a> (husky) and Dijon Lee (cornerback) also return.<\/p>\n

Former blue-chip prospect and redshirt freshman Chuck McDonald is back at corner, along with safeties Zavier Mincey<\/a>, Ivan Taylor<\/a> and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.<\/a><\/p>\n

New to the fold are five-star Jorden Edmonds<\/a>, four-stars Jireh Edwards<\/a> and Zyan Gibson<\/a>, junior college transfer Nick Sherman<\/a> and Mercer<\/a> transfer Carmelo O’Neal<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Alabama will be without a Freshman All-SEC team selection when it opens spring practice on Sunday.
