So far in his battle to get Americans to \u201ceat real food,\u201d Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has flipped the food pyramid upside down<\/a> and, for some reason, started posting AI images of himself<\/a> with a tattoo like Mike Tyson\u2019s. But things recently escalated after he took on Boston\u2019s most beloved institution<\/a>: Dunkin\u2019 Donuts.<\/p>\n

At a rally in Austin last week, Kennedy declared<\/a>, \u201cWe\u2019re going to ask Dunkin\u2019 Donuts and Starbucks: \u2018Show us the safety data that show that it\u2019s okay for a teenage girl to drink an iced coffee with 115 grams of sugar in it.\u2019 I don\u2019t think they\u2019re going to be able to do it.\u201d Shockingly, this is one of his more reasonable takes \u2014 some Dunkin\u2019 Donuts frozen-coffee drinks do contain more than 100 grams of sugar<\/a>, which is more than twice as much as most experts would recommend consuming in a day<\/a>.\u00a0But try telling that to anyone who lives in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

Reposting Kennedy\u2019s comments on Wednesday, Massachusetts governor Maura Healey wrote, \u201cCome and take it\u201d<\/a> on X. Massachusetts representative Richard Neal also weighed in with his own local twist, calling Kennedy\u2019s threat a \u201cwicked bad idea.\u201d While Dunkin\u2019 Donuts has yet to respond to the attack, plenty of other New Englanders made it clear they\u2019re ready to defend the chain\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, RFK Jr. appears to be taking the backlash in stride. In response to Healey\u2019s tweet, he wrote<\/a>: \u201cNo one is taking away your Dunkin\u2019. But isn\u2019t it reasonable to ask whether a drink loaded with 180 grams of sugar is safe?\u201d<\/p>\n
