Kennedy Jr.&#8217;s childhood friend Sasha Chermayeff discussed attending JFK Jr.&#8217;s wedding to Carolyn Bessette in 1996.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>According to Chermayeff, there was no tension between Caroline and JFK Jr.&#8217;s sister Caroline Kennedy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Her comments come after the wedding episode of in Ryan Murphy&#8217;s Love Story.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ryan Murphy&#8217;s Love Story has left viewers completely fascinated by the &#8217;90s-era romance between the late John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife <a class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/carolyn-bessette-kennedy-changed-appearance-conform-public-expectations-8651671\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy<\/a>. In the latest episode of the Hulu show, fans were treated to Murphy&#8217;s interpretation of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/lifestyle\/jfk-jr-carolyn-bessette-kennedys-044209981.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:September 1996 wedding;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">September 1996 wedding<\/a> ceremony. However according to JFK Jr.&#8217;s childhood friend, Sasha Chermayeff, who attended the intimate wedding, things didn&#8217;t play out like they did on screen.<\/p>\n<p>Episode 6, &#8220;The Wedding,&#8221; shows rising tensions between Bessette-Kennedy and JFK Jr.&#8217;s sister, Caroline Kennedy. However, according to, Chermayeff, the vibe was much more peaceful in real life.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"John F. It was just not there,\u201d Chermayeff told <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/05\/entertainment\/the-truth-behind-carolyn-bessettes-tension-with-caroline-kennedy-during-wedding-to-jfk-jr\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Page Six;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Page Six<\/a>. She later noted that \u201cpeople knew that there was some tensions between them,&#8221; though Chermayeff claims, &#8220;it wasn&#8217;t really apparent at the wedding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In Love Story, Caroline and Carolyn don&#8217;t exactly hit it off. Caroline has trouble accepting Carolyn&#8217;s desire for a private wedding, leading Carolyn to pacify her with a maid of honor proposal. In the show, the tension between Carolyn and her sister-in-law-to-be continues in the weeks leading up to the wedding.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Caroline Kennedy in 1998Credit: Getty\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1242\" height=\"868\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/f9bd738a0e9882c4d8168f8b1a9b2e0f.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Caroline Kennedy in 1998<br \/>Credit: Getty<\/p>\n<p>On screen, Carolyn&#8217;s friends and sisters judge Caroline for refusing to help Carolyn get ready on her wedding day, but Chermayeff says that probably didn&#8217;t happen. \u201cI\u2019m not convinced that [Caroline] had to do anything like that,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I think Carolyn had her people pretty much with her.\u201d Apparently, Carolyn&#8217;s mother, Ann Messina Freeman, and her sisters, Lisa and Lauren Bessette, are more likely to have been given the task.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way I look at it, [\u2018Love Story\u2019] is just being made by a group of people that never met them, didn\u2019t know them, and are just making it up as they go along,&#8221; Chermayeff said.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"John F. Hannah, who dated JFK Jr. before his relationship with Carolyn, claimed: &#8220;The character &#8216;Daryl Hannah&#8217; portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct, or my relationship with John.
