CHICAGO (WLS) — A former substitute teacher with the Archdiocese of Chicago was in court on Friday, and a judge ordered him to remain in jail.<\/p>\n

Brett Smith<\/a> is charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a minor and wire fraud. He pleaded not guilty on Friday.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from his work as a private tutor.<\/p>\n

Smith also worked as a substitute teacher at Queen of Martyrs School in Evergreen Park. He was charged there with misdemeanor battery.<\/p>\n

Police and the archdiocese have said Smith used several different names in the past.<\/p>\n
