{"id":639128,"date":"2026-03-07T17:42:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-07T17:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/639128\/"},"modified":"2026-03-07T17:42:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T17:42:20","slug":"sr-51-improvement-project-expected-to-disrupt-phoenix-traffic-until-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/639128\/","title":{"rendered":"SR 51 improvement project expected to disrupt Phoenix traffic until fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 A road improvement project along State Route 51 in Phoenix is expected to begin Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The $17.8 million project, which is set to begin Friday and last through the fall, will improve pavement along a 10-mile stretch of State Route 51 between the Interstate 10 \u201cmini-stack\u201d interchange and Shea Boulevard, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/azdot.gov\/news\/sr-51-pavement-improvement-project-set-begin-march-13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Arizona Department of Transportation<\/a> (ADOT).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Crews will remove the top layer of older asphalt pavement along the freeway and use diamond grinding to smooth the pavement.<\/p>\n<p>What traffic disruptions will occur due to the SR 51 project?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">Southbound SR 51 will be closed between Cactus Road and Northern Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday, March 13, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 16.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED STORIES<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">The project will also require weeknight lane and ramp restrictions or closures, according to ADOT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">ADOT advises drivers to use southbound Interstate 17 as an alternate route.
