{"id":639663,"date":"2026-03-07T23:16:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-07T23:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/639663\/"},"modified":"2026-03-07T23:16:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T23:16:14","slug":"nyc-mayor-mamdanis-wife-liked-pro-oct-7-instagram-posts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/639663\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC Mayor Mamdani\u2019s wife liked pro-Oct. 7 Instagram posts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York City Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-888306\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zohran Mamdani<\/a> is facing scrutiny after a report revealed that his wife, Rama Duwaji, liked several Instagram posts regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Duwaji\u2019s Instagram activity included interactions with posts that framed events of that day in sympathetic terms, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-889045\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">antisemitic protests<\/a> that followed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">One of the posts Duwaji reportedly liked featured images of Palestinians breaching Israeli defenses and described the attack as a form of resistance to \u201capartheid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another showed people on a captured IDF vehicle with messaging about opposing occupation and oppression. Both posts were shared on the same day Hamas carried out its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-886826\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">assault on Israel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Duwaji also liked posts supporting pro-Palestinian demonstrations that took place the day after the attack. These included material from organizations calling on people to stand with the Palestinian cause and highlighting their \u201cright to resist\u201d what they described as \u201coccupation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The resurfacing of Duwaji\u2019s social media activity comes as questions mount about how her views intersect with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-876322\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mamdani\u2019s political stance<\/a>. The two met online in 2021 and married in early 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In response to the reporting, Mamdani defended his wife and distanced himself from her social media posts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cMy wife is the love of my life, and she\u2019s also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cI, however, was elected to represent all 8.5 million people in the city.
