CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) \u2014 A young boy in Chula Vista died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his electric scooter, the Chula Vista Police Department’s Watch Commander confirmed with ABC 10News.<\/p>\n
Around 2:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with a child at the 2000 block of Tango Loop in Chula Vista. A reporting party advised the child was pinned underneath the front end of the vehicle.<\/p>\n
According to authorities, first responders rendered aid to the child who was then transported to Rady Children’s Hospital where he later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
At the scene, a shoe could be seen underneath a black Audi sedan, along with a scooter lying off to the side.<\/p>\n
Authorities said bystanders assisted responding officers by using a rolling hydraulic jack to free the child from the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Investigators from CVPD’s traffic division are conducting an investigation at the scene, CVPD’s Watch Commander said. <\/p>\n
The status of the involved suspect is unknown at this time. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a part in the collision and no other vehciles were involved, according the CVPD. <\/p>\n
The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending family notification. The cause of the collision is under investigation\/<\/p>\n
