A woman was found dead along a canal in Phoenix \u2014 prompting speculation over a possible connection to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The remains were found Friday, more than 100 miles from Tucson, from where the 84-year-old matriarch went missing on Feb. 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetails on the call indicated that an adult female was on the nearby canal bank and was unresponsive,\u201d the police said in a statement. \u201cWhen officers arrived, they located the woman, who was ultimately pronounced deceased on scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home near Tucson \u2014 more than 110 miles from Phoenix \u2014 on Jan. 31. Facebook\/Savanah Guthrie<\/p>\n

Phoenix police have yet to release any identifying information about the woman they found, but the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department said in a statement to Fox News Digital<\/a> that they have not been alerted that there\u2019s any connection to the Guthrie case.<\/p>\n

The slow pace of the investigation has frustrated Guthrie\u2019s loved ones \u2014 including her daughter, \u201cToday\u201d host Savannah Guthrie, who has offered a $1 million cash reward<\/a> for information leading to her safe return or recovery.<\/p>\n

The slow pace of the investigation has frustrated Guthrie\u2019s children, Annie, Savannah and Camron, who are seen in a Feb. 4 video pleading for their mom\u2019s safe return. via REUTERS<\/p>\n

Security footage recovered from Nancy\u2019s doorbell camera captured a masked man \u2014 possibly two different men \u2014 loitering on her doorstep<\/a> the night before police believe she was kidnapped.<\/p>\n

A large amount of evidence recovered from the home, including traces of blood, is still being investigated. However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos warned it could take up to \u201ca year\u201d to analyze it all<\/a>, particularly the evidence containing DNA.<\/p>\n
