PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 The Phoenix Police Department has released edited body camera footage of the moments before an armed man was killed by his own gun during a struggle<\/a> with officers two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Police said the situation began on Feb. 23 in the area of 15th and Atlanta avenues<\/a> after a man called 911 to report that a man, identified as Dylan Fohrenkam, 34, had pulled out a gun on himself and his young daughters.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid he point the gun at them?\u201d the dispatcher asked. \u201cYes,\u201d the 911 caller replied in Spanish.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here at the park, it just happened. He passed by, and he pulled out the gun and pointed at us, where we were, and said \u2018goodnight,\u2019\u201d the 911 caller told dispatchers in Spanish. \u201cAnd he stopped by the bathrooms in the park, and that\u2019s where he\u2019s at and hasn\u2019t moved from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officers showed up, and witnesses directed police to Fohrenkam, who was reportedly leaving the park on his bicycle. Authorities followed him in their cars as they waited for more resources to arrive.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Moments later, the man got closer to 18th Avenue and Atlanta Avenue, where he jumped off his bike and ran toward a house, police said. Police then ran after Fohrenkam, and one officer used a less-lethal launcher on him, but they said that didn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n

Investigators said afterward that a second officer tackled Fohrenkam, and as they both fell to the ground, Fohrenkam\u2019s gun went off, injuring him and the officer involved. At that point, police were able to take Fohrenkam into custody.<\/p>\n

In one body camera video, officers are seen trying to arrest Fohrenkam.<\/p>\n

\u201cHands, hands, hands, hand,\u201d one officer yells. Another yells, \u201cHe\u2019s got a gun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to get shot in the f*****g head. Don\u2019t reach for a gun,\u201d one officer said.<\/p>\n

Another officer soon follows, \u201cI don\u2019t know where the gun is at. Where\u2019s the gun?\u201d Officers are then seen continuing to restrain him. A different body camera clip captured audio of the gun going off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if he hit him or hit me, too, but I felt it on my left shoulder,\u201d an officer is heard saying.<\/p>\n

\u201cMake sure there\u2019s no other f*****g gun,\u201d another officer said.<\/p>\n

Fohrenkam was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the shooting. Meanwhile, the officer was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries related to the gunfire, police said.<\/p>\n

Police also released a photo of the gun in question, which was recovered by officers at the shooting scene.<\/p>\n

Phoenix police said the officer involved worked in the South Mountain Precinct and had seven years of service with the department.<\/p>\n

Phoenix police said an internal administrative investigation remains underway, and since officers did not fire their guns, no outside agency is involved in this case.<\/p>\n

\u201cConclusions about whether the actions of the officer are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete,\u201d Phoenix police said in a written statement.<\/p>\n
