Evan Rachel Wood<\/strong> will not be returning to the Practical Magic sequel \u2014 but it wasn’t her decision. In a candid message posted to her Instagram Stories, Wood said that she would have “loved” to have been offered a role to appear alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock.<\/p>\n

“I am getting asked about this a lot, so l\u2019ll just clear it up now;I was not asked to come back and be in the #PracticalMagic sequel. l offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line,” Wood said, according to Deadline<\/a>. “I was told they are re-casting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.”<\/p>\n

Fans reacted to Wood’s statement on Reddit.<\/p>\n

“That is sad to read. I could understand if she didn’t want to or couldn’t due to scheduling, but just deciding to recast despite her offer is disappointing. I might chalk it up to fear she’s too expensive now that she has a solid established career, but surely they could have worked something out. I’m not that eager for a sequel, though, I’m not confident Kidman can still pull off a film like Practical Magic anymore,” one person wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m shocked that they\u2019d decide to recast without offering the other actresses the opportunity to reprise their roles. Disappointing,” someone else said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Wood is a fantastic actress. Someone please put her in her own witchy series instead,” a third comment read<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Practical Magic sequel was announced in June 2024. The film is slated for a September 2026 release.<\/p>\n
