The New York Yankees roared all the way back to force extras and then walked off in the 10th, handing Seattle a stunning defeat that finished off a three-game sweep.

It was the type of brutal, gut-punch loss that threatened to linger – especially with the MLB-leading Detroit Tigers lurking just around the corner.

But instead, the M’s bounced right back with one of their best offensive series in recent memory.

The Mariners tagged reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal for four runs in a 12-3 rout of the Tigers on Friday night. They mashed their way to 19 hits in a 15-7 victory on Saturday. And on Sunday, they used a four-run ninth to pull away for an 8-4 triumph that capped a three-game sweep of the best team in the majors.

Just like that, the M’s head into the All-Star break with a whole lot of positive momentum and good vibes.

Here’s a look back at some impressive stats from the Mariners’ offensive outburst in the Motor City:

• 35 – The Mariners’ 35 runs this weekend were their fourth-most over a three-game series in franchise history, according to Stathead. They scored 47 runs over a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays in 2000, 39 runs against the Kansas City Royals during a three-game series in 2002 and 38 runs against the Oakland Athletics over a three-game set in 1995.

• 40 – The Mariners piled up 40 hits over the weekend and finished the series with a .342 batting average. Julio Rodríguez led the way with six hits, while J.P. Crawford and Randy Arozarena each added five. Jorge Polanco, Dominic Canzone and Ben Williamson chipped in four apiece.

• 11 – The Mariners clubbed 11 home runs over the weekend and drove in 18 of their 35 runs via the long ball.

• 7 – Seven different players homered for the Mariners over the three-game set. Rodríguez hit three homers, Cal Raleigh and Arozarena added two homers apiece, and Luke Raley, Mitch Garver, Polanco and Cole Young each went yard once.

• 3 – Rodríguez hit three home runs over a massive 6-for-12 weekend that also included two doubles and six RBIs. It marked the second time in Rodríguez’s career that he’s homered in three straight games. And it was sorely needed, as Rodríguez entered the series with only one homer over his previous 40 games. With summer now in full swing, could J-Rod be poised for another midseason hot streak?

• 9 – Arozarena continued his recent tear with two more home runs, which gives him nine homers over his past 13 games. That comes after hitting just eight homers over his first 81 games this season. With his summer surge, Arozarena is now just six homers away from matching his career-high mark of 23 with Tampa Bay in 2023.

• 38 – And of course, no list would be complete without mention of Raleigh’s historic first half. The Mariners star catcher hit his MLB-leading 37th and 38th home runs of the season on Friday night, which broke the American League record for most homers before the All-Star break. The previous AL first-half home run record was 37, held by Chris Davis (2013) and Reggie Jackson (1969). Raleigh finished only one home run short of Barry Bond’s MLB-record 39 homers over the first half of 2001.

More on the Seattle Mariners

• Seattle Mariners star Cal Raleigh swipes his way to another milestone
• Watch: Seattle Mariners’ Julio Rodríguez homers for 3rd straight game
• Seattle Mariners MLB Draft Tracker: Keep up with every 2025 pick
• Cijntje shines as 3 prospects represent Seattle Mariners in Futures Game
• Seattle Mariners get a 5th All-Star as Randy Arozarena replaces Julio

Follow @CameronVanTil

Less than 72 hours ago, the Seattle Mariners were coming off their most demoralizing loss of the season.…

[10
316,6319,6318,62,315,314,67,132,68,313
0":"post-64649","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sports","8":"tag-home","9":"tag-mynorthwest-com","10":"tag-mynorthwest-com-seattle-news","11":"tag-sports","12":"tag-talk-and-community","13":"tag-traffic","14":"tag-united-states","15":"tag-unitedstates","16":"tag-us","17":"tag-weather
["GET
