\n\tMisty Copeland<\/a> is calling Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a> out following his remarks about ballet and opera.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ballet dancer took aim at the\u00a0Marty Supreme<\/a>\u00a0star, reminding everyone that\u00a0she was part of a promo for the film.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFirst I have to say that it\u2019s very interesting that he invited me to be a part of promoting Marty Supreme with respect to my art form,\u201d Copeland said during a panel<\/a> for Aveeno.<\/p>\n

\n\tCopeland was referring to an\u00a0Instagram post<\/a>\u00a0from November 2025 in which she wore a\u00a0Marty Supreme-branded jacket. A second photo on the post showed Copeland as a child dancing ballet with the caption, \u201cDream Big.\u201d The post was shared on the film\u2019s official IG account.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continued, \u201cI think that it\u2019s important that we acknowledge that, yes, this is an art form that\u2019s not \u2018popular\u2019 and a part of pop culture as movies are, but that doesn\u2019t mean it doesn\u2019t have enduring relevance in culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn her social media post, Copeland noted that, \u201cthere\u2019s a reason that the opera and ballet have been around for over 400 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s the work that I\u2019ve been doing my whole career is to bring more people into it,\u201d she said. \u201cSo that people do understand the importance and the relevance of it in our communities and our culture, and you see it reflected everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCopeland also said, \u201cI mean, he wouldn\u2019t be an actor and have the opportunities he has as a movie star if it weren\u2019t for opera and ballet and their relevance in that medium. So all of these mediums have a space and we shouldn\u2019t be comparing them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChalamet and Copeland are scheduled to appear at the Oscars on Sunday, March 15. Copeland is set to be part of a performance for the Oscar-nominated song from Sinners, while Chalamet is nominated for Best Actor for Marty Supreme.<\/p>\n
