{"id":648035,"date":"2026-03-11T13:08:43","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T13:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/648035\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T13:08:43","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T13:08:43","slug":"harris-county-crosswalks-4-precinct-4-begins-next-round-of-revamped-crosswalks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/648035\/","title":{"rendered":"Harris County Crosswalks 4 Precinct 4 begins next round of revamped crosswalks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMore than 60 crosswalks across Harris County Precinct 4 will receive a makeover while students are away for spring break.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What residents need to know<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Harris County Precinct 4 commissioner Lesley Briones launched the spring break portion of <a href=\"https:\/\/cp4.harriscountytx.gov\/Connect\/Newsroom\/crosswalks-4-precinct-4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Crosswalks 4 Precinct 4<\/a> during a March 6 news conference in front of Morton Ranch High School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom restriping crosswalks to upgrading traffic signals and rebuilding sidewalks, we are investing in safer streets for our children and families,\u201d Briones said in a March 6 news release. \u201cSafety does not take a break, and neither does your county government. At the end of the day, our goal is to keep your family safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The specifics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project\u2014which will repaint crosswalks, curbs and stop sign road markings\u2014produces just over $171,000 worth of upgrades for crosswalks in 12 \u201chigh-traffic school zones\u201d detected from crash data and community input, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Project locations include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alief ISD<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Holub Middle School<\/li>\n<li>Alief Taylor High School<\/li>\n<li>Petrosky Elementary School<\/li>\n<li>Albright Middle School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cy-Fair ISD<\/strong><strong>Katy ISD<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Golbow Elementary School<\/li>\n<li>Morton Ranch Elementary School<\/li>\n<li>Morton Ranch High School<\/li>\n<li>T.H. McDonald Junior High School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Charter schools<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Calvin Nelms Charter Schools<\/li>\n<li>School of Science and Technology Advancement<\/li>\n<li>International Leadership of Texas, Westpark K-8<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Briones is collaborating with Houston Mayor John Whitmire and council member Abbie Kamin to install advanced technological crosswalks with push-button activated flashing beacons and accessible ramps throughout Houston, including at Houston ISD\u2019s Sinclair Elementary, financed by $60,000 in funding from Kamin, per the release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diving in deeper<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Briones, a mother of three and a former teacher, said safety is her \u201ctop priority\u201d and emphasized the need to address safety issues, especially in high-injury network corridors such as the area near Morton Ranch High School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know along this 1 mile of Morton Ranch, near the Morton Ranch High School, there have been three deaths and approximately 19 serious injuries over a five-year period\u2014that is three deaths and 19 injuries too many,\u201d Briones said.<\/p>\n<p>Henry Azie, a sophomore at Morton Ranch, said how important making these improvements can be for students who encounter them daily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepainting the crosswalks may seem like a small change, but for students who walk to school across the street every day, it makes a big difference,\u201d Azie said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In case you missed it<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Precinct 4 previously completed crosswalks for Cy-Fair, Katy, Tomball, Alief and Waller independent school districts during winter break, <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/cy-fair-jersey-village\/transportation\/2025\/12\/23\/harris-county-precinct-4-to-refurbish-crosswalks-near-local-public-schools\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Community Impact<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moving forward<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The crosswalks are all set to be completed by the end of spring break, weather permitting, Briones said.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"More than 60 crosswalks across Harris County Precinct 4 will receive a makeover while students are away for&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":648036,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[5130],"tags":[94223,6386,4345,275379,358,3187],"class_list":["post-648035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-houston","tag-crosswalks","tag-harris-county","tag-houston","tag-morton-ranch","tag-texas","tag-tx"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/116210703350924272","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/648035","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=648035"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/648035\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/648036"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=648035"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=648035"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=648035"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
