{"id":648702,"date":"2026-03-11T19:46:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T19:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/648702\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T19:46:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T19:46:19","slug":"mystery-calls-placed-from-nyc-terror-suspects-home-after-alleged-isis-inspired-plot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/648702\/","title":{"rendered":"Mystery calls placed from NYC terror suspect\u2019s home after alleged ISIS-inspired plot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\"><strong>FIRST ON FOX: <\/strong>BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. \u2014 Dispatch logs obtained by Fox News Digital show that three calls to law enforcement were made from the home of one of the New York City terror suspects in suburban Philadelphia after the foiled attack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The first call to law enforcement came in at 4:15 p.m. Saturday from Ibrahim Kayumi&#8217;s family home, the logs showed. The second came in at 9:19 p.m. A third call to law enforcement was placed on Sunday at 8:54 p.m. The calls were made to 911 or non-emergency lines, according to the log. It&#8217;s unclear what was said on the calls or why they were made.<\/p>\n<p>The calls surfaced as details emerged about the suspects\u2019 families. The two men lived just 10 miles apart but came from very different worlds, leaving neighboring communities stunned.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxTrueCrime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Emir Balat, 18, of Langhorne, and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, of Newtown, are accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/nypd-confirms-improvised-explosive-device-thrown-protests-near-gracie-mansion-manhattan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">throwing live explosive devices<\/a> into a protest taking place outside Mayor Zohran Mamdani\u2019s residence, Gracie Mansion, on Saturday after making the almost two-hour drive into New York City, federal officials said.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a complaint, prosecutors said that a series of pictures showed the two men handling the alleged bomb, which authorities later determined to have contained Triacetone Triperoxide, or TATP, and had nuts and bolts attached with duct tape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who are the families of the alleged terror suspects?<\/strong><strong>Ibrahim Kayumi&#8217;s family:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kayumi&#8217;s parents came to the U.S. from Afghanistan and became naturalized citizens in 2004 and 2009, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/fbi-investigation-terrorism-explosive-device-new-york-city-mayor-mamdani-gracie-mansion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A LinkedIn belonging to Shaysta, Kayumi&#8217;s mother, states she&#8217;s a manager at Popeyes.<\/p>\n<p>The father, Khayer Kayumi, attempted to buy a Popeyes location in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/us-regions\/northeast\/new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Brooklyn, New York<\/a> in 2010, but wasn&#8217;t able to open it because of a previous tax balance on the property, which was at least $200,000, according to court documents. (Greg Wehner for Fox News Digital)<\/p>\n<p>Emir Balat&#8217;s family:<\/p>\n<p>Balat\u2019s parents, who were born in Turkey, became naturalized U.S. citizens in 2017, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to getting citizenship, Balat&#8217;s father, Selahattin, sued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/politics\/executive\/homeland-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly<\/a> in 2017 over delays regarding their citizenship application. Everyone. I could not believe it when I heard it. Emir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, were being held without bail after a court appearance Monday on charges that include attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and using a weapon of mass destruction.\u00a0 (Greg Wehner for Fox News Digital)<\/p>\n<p>Balat&#8217;s lawyer, Mehdi Essmidi, claimed to reporters that the two men didn&#8217;t know each other prior to the attempted attack.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re strangers as far as I know,&#8221; Essmidi said. &#8220;I&#8217;m saying they&#8217;re from different parts of Pennsylvania, they&#8217;re in different age groups, they are not known to each other. They do not live together, they do not have family or school ties.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/true-crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>LIKE WHAT YOU&#8217;RE READING? (United States District Court for the Southern District of New York)<\/p>\n<p>Though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/education\/high-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Balat is in high school<\/a>, his attorney told reporters that he was finishing classes remotely.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s 18, he&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/education\/high-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">finishing school remotely<\/a> because he has only like three classes left to do. He&#8217;s in his senior year,&#8221; Essmidi said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.onelink.me\/xLDS?pid=AppArticleLink&amp;af_dp=foxnewsaf%3A%2F%2F&amp;af_web_dp=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fapps-products\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A district spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Balat is currently in 12th grade in the Neshaminy School District. Kayumi graduated in 2024 from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Council Rock High School<\/a> North, school officials confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson told Fox News that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/immigration\/immigrant-education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Balat attended Neshaminy High School<\/a> until September 2025 before going remote.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News Digital reached out to the families for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Sabes is a reporter for Fox News Digital.
