\n\tEmmy and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones<\/a> (The Fugitive) is the newest actor to join the cast of FX<\/a>\u2018s The Lowdown<\/a> for Season 2. Jones is the second casting of the season so far, following Betty Gilpin, whom we announced exclusively<\/a> this month.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom creator Sterlin Harjo, the first season of\u00a0The Lowdown\u00a0follows the\u00a0gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa \u201ctruthstorian\u201d whose obsession with\u00a0the\u00a0truth is always getting him into trouble. While Lee\u2019s no idealist, he\u2019s fiercely committed to exposing corruption and unearthing\u00a0the\u00a0city\u2019s hidden rot, even when it puts him at risk.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn Season 1,\u00a0the\u00a0publication of Lee\u2019s latest expos\u00e9 \u2013 a deep dive into\u00a0the powerful Washberg family \u2013 is immediately followed by\u00a0the\u00a0suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg (Tim Blake Nelson), and Lee knows he\u2019s stumbled onto something big. Following a trail of breadcrumbs Dale has left behind, urging someone to dig deeper into\u00a0the circumstances surrounding his death, Lee does just that.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show\u2019s freshman season also starred Keith David and featured guest stars Kyle MacLachlan, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael \u201cKiller Mike\u201d Render, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tracy Letts, Peter Dinklage and\u00a0the late Graham Greene<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe acclaimed Western noir series was\u00a0renewed for a second season<\/a>\u00a0in January, with production set to take place in Tulsa, OK, this spring. The series\u2019 first season was recognized by the\u00a0AFI Awards<\/a>\u00a0as one of\u00a0the\u00a010 most outstanding TV programs of 2025 and is among\u00a0the\u00a0year\u2019s most acclaimed series.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Lowdown\u00a0is created by Harjo, who executive produces with Garrett Basch, Hawke, Ryan Hawke, Duffy Boudreau and Scott Teems. In Season 1, Harjo also wrote and directed various episodes.\u00a0The Lowdown\u00a0is produced by FX Productions, with all episodes currently available to stream on Hulu.<\/p>\n

\n\tJones is mainly a big-screen star, though he has had notable TV roles. His second small-screen role was in the long-running soap One Life to Live, which he followed with credits on Barnaby Jones, Baretta and Charlie\u2019s Angels. In 1983, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series for his portrayal of Gary Gilmore in\u00a0The Executioner\u2019s Song,\u00a0and in 1989, he was nominated for an Emmy for Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Special for\u00a0Lonesome Dove. He last appeared on TV in HBO telefilm The Sunset Limited, working opposite Sam Jackson in 2011. Jones also directed the movie. In a series, he last starred in Lonesome Dove 37 years ago.<\/p>\n
