PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A driver was taken away in handcuffs after Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers had to use a grappler on an SUV before a standoff Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
Aerials from Arizona\u2019s Family News chopper showed a silver SUV\u2019s left rear wheel was successfully caught in the net of a grappler and stopped on the Interstate 17 frontage road at Dixelata Drive<\/a>.<\/p>\n It was unclear when the incident started, but when our helicopter arrived on the scene about 8:40 p.m., the driver was still in the SUV, with several other SUVs surrounding it.<\/p>\n The grappler\u2019s slack line was connected to a DPS truck. A couple of other DPS SUVs appeared to have deployed their grapplers as well.<\/p>\n Shortly after our helicopter arrived, the driver crawled out of the driver\u2019s side window and fell to the ground, where a K-9 went after him.<\/p>\n He was handcuffed before the medical staff checked him.
