So, now that the Ravens and Crosby aren’t together, will the Detroit Lions swoop in?

Well, late Wednesday night, March 11, Crosby took to X to announce that he’s returning to the Raiders. Of course, anything could still happen, but Crosby coming out with the statement “I’m a Raider” says a lot.

“Everything happens for a reason. Believe noting you hear and half of what you see. I’m a Raider. I’m Back,” he said in the post, with video footage of the Undertaker.

So, it appears Crosby is going to stay a Raider, unless, of course, something happens to counter his announcement. Never say never, as we learned with the Ravens situation.

Maxx Crosby Trade: The Story of How the Crosby Journey Went Down

It’s been a wild ride for Crosby. First, he was traded from Vegas to the Baltimore Ravens, and then, they famously backed out of their deal to acquire him.

According to a report from Ryan McFadden of ESPN, Baltimore backed out of the deal due to Crosby’s physical. “No further details were provided in the Raiders’ announcement, but league sources told ESPN the Ravens backed out because of medical concerns that arose during a physical,” McFadden stated.

Crosby’s stats are still strong, regardless of his physical results. During the 2025 NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.

On Saturday, March 7, Crosby broke his silence and took to social media to express his thoughts on the trade at the time.

“Raider Nation has given me everything,” Crosby said in the now-deleted message. “My family, had the chance to get married, have the most beautiful daughter in the world, grow as a man, as a player, as a leader, a human being. One thing I could say is above all else is that I gave you everything I got and I have no regrets about that. I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”

Crosby also said that he was surprised about the trade but that there are no hard feelings. “I have zero ill will towards that organization in any way,” Crosby said. “I want them to have all the success in the world.”

Detroit Lions Restructure Jared Goff’s Contract

It was bound to happen, and amid the scurry of action that took place on Wednesday, March 11, the Detroit Lions worked with quarterback Jared Goff to restructure his contract. It’s a normal process for any franchise quarterback with as big a deal as Goff, so the move wasn’t unexpected.

The restructuring freed up a lot of cap space, which is great news for the Detroit Lions. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, “The Lions restructured QB Jared Goff’s contract, converting $40 million of his base salary to a signing bonus and adding a void year to clear $32M in 2026 cap space.” So, that helps Detroit make bigger moves.

Anne Erickson is an award-winning reporter for Heavy Sports covering the NFL, NBA and college football.
