ABILENE, Texas \u2014 A man has been arrested in Fort Worth on a first-degree murder warrant in connection with a hit-and-run death in Abilene, authorities said.<\/p>\n

On Friday, March 13, 2026, the United States Marshals Office out of Abilene arrested Cristopher Covington-Smith in Fort Worth on a warrant for first-degree murder out of Taylor County. <\/p>\n

Covington-Smith was wanted in the death of 31-year-old Corrisa Trowbridge, who Abilene police identified as the victim in Thursday morning\u2019s hit-and-run fatality.<\/p>\n

Officers said they were called to the area of Corsicana and Blue Quail Drive around 4 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found a female victim who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Police have said they are working to determine exactly what happened.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Covington-Smith was identified as a possible suspect in the vehicular homicide and fled the area. With assistance from law enforcement partners, including the U.S. Marshals, he was taken into custody, officials said.<\/p>\n

Before the arrest, detectives had asked for the public\u2019s help locating Covington-Smith and said a murder warrant had been issued in connection with the Thursday morning hit-and-run homicide. <\/p>\n

Police had asked anyone with information on his location to contact Police Dispatch at (325) 673-8331, or Abilene Crime Stoppers at (325) 676-8477 (TIPS) to remain anonymous and potentially be eligible for a cash reward.<\/p>\n

The Abilene Police Department thanked its law enforcement partners for assisting in Covington-Smith\u2019s capture and said he will soon be extradited to Abilene to face the murder charge.
