The first known case of a more severe strain of Mpox has been discovered in New York City – it is called Mpox Clade I.<\/p>\n

Since November 2024, there have been 11 cases of this more severe strain across the country.<\/p>\n

Most of the cases involve someone who traveled internationally to outbreak areas in Africa.<\/p>\n

The Health Department says the risk to the public is low.<\/p>\n

A two-dose vaccine for Mpox was first made available in 2022 for people at high-risk.<\/p>\n
