{"id":655681,"date":"2026-03-14T18:54:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T18:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/655681\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T18:54:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T18:54:13","slug":"fort-worth-council-approves-project-plan-for-walsh-ranch-taxing-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/655681\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Worth council approves project plan for Walsh Ranch taxing district"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"&quot;byline&quot;\">by Scott Nishimura, Fort Worth Report <br \/>March 14, 2026<\/p>\n<p>City Council members approved the plan for the new taxing district that will help pay for public infrastructure improvements in far west Fort Worth\u2019s Walsh development.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Worth City Council approved the plan, which sets out planned improvements and how the TIF will pay for them, as part of the unanimous consent <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthgov.legistar.com\/MeetingDetail.aspx?ID=1386684&amp;GUID=B574B260-5F1C-4239-B539-37C06D7F22C5&amp;Options=info%7C&amp;Search=\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">agenda at its March 10 meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A council committee also discussed the project plan at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortworthtexas.gov\/files\/assets\/public\/v\/3\/city-secretary\/documents\/calendar\/2026-agendas\/bampc\/tif\/03-03-2026-tif18walshranch-agenda.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 3 board meeting<\/a> for the new Walsh Ranch Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 18.<\/p>\n<p>Texas law allows the creation of tax increment finance districts, which direct property tax revenue generated by the increase in valuations over a base year to pay for improvements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then it\u2019s important to note that all of those (tax increment) projects serve a regional area, and this is why this TIF was ultimately created,\u201d Ori Fernandez, assistant economic development director for the city, told board members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re helping support all of that infrastructure because, as you all know, there\u2019s a lot of growth out there, and there will be future growth and development out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Walsh Ranch Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 18 Board Meeting<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Documenter name:<\/strong> Patrick Banis<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date<\/strong>: March 3, 2026<\/p>\n<p>To read more about this meeting, please click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortworthtexas.gov\/files\/assets\/public\/v\/3\/city-secretary\/documents\/calendar\/2026-agendas\/bampc\/tif\/03-03-2026-tif18walshranch-agenda.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Proposed improvements within the district include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Roadways<\/li>\n<li>Sanitary sewer<\/li>\n<li>Storm sewer<\/li>\n<li>Water distribution<\/li>\n<li>Open space and trails<\/li>\n<li>Related costs, including contingency and engineering, legal, city and financing fees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Under the ordinance the council passed March 10, the city will contribute 50% of its tax increment to the Walsh Ranch TIF each year the TIF exists. If Tarrant and Parker counties enter into agreements to contribute 50% or more of their tax increments, then Fort Worth will raise its commitment to 65%.<\/p>\n<p>The district, which the <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/10\/22\/walsh-tax-district-plan-moves-forward-with-fort-worth-council-vote\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">council created Nov. 11<\/a>, will terminate Dec. 31, 2107.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Banis is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/documenters\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fort Worth Report Documenters<\/a> crew.
