Now sources tell the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/tiktok-deal-fee-trump-administration-5aa31c9f?mod=hp_lead_pos1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/13\/business\/trump-tiktok-10-billion-fee.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a> that fee is expected to be in the range of $10 billion. The money is supposedly being paid by new investors, including Oracle and Silver Lake. Reports are that $2.5 billion was already paid to the Treasury when the deal closed on January 22nd. The rest will be paid out in installments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">This is the latest example of the Trump administration inserting itself into private business in unprecedented ways, including taking on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/764480\/intel-donald-trump-lip-bu-tan-deal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">10-percent stake in Intel<\/a> last August, a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/06\/18\/nx-s1-5435364\/a-look-at-the-golden-share-agreement-in-the-u-s-steel-nippon-steel-partnership\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">golden share<\/a>\u201d in US Steel, and a 20-percent cut in chip sales from Nvidia to China.
