(Environment Canada image) <\/p>\nSeveral parts of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area are under a special weather statement as Environment Canada calls for snow or freezing rain along with windy conditions on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Issued shortly before 5 p.m., the statement applies to Burlington – Oakville, Caledon, the City of Hamilton, the City of Toronto, Halton Hills \u2013 Milton, Mississauga \u2013 Brampton, Newmarket – Georgina – Northern York Region, Pickering – Oshawa – Southern Durham Region, Uxbridge – Beaverton – Northern Durham Region, and Vaughan – Richmond Hill \u2013 Markham.<\/p>\n

The national weather agency is forecasting two to six cm snow or one to two mm of freezing rain with ice build up, coupled with strong easterly or southerly winds, gusting up to 70 km\/h and resulting in local blowing snow.<\/p>\n
A band of snow is expected to move across the affected regions on Sunday morning and will run until midday, Environment Canada says.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrief freezing rain is also possible with the snow. The snow band will continue northward late in the morning,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n
As a result, visibility will be reduced, making travel difficult on Sunday. <\/p>\n
\u201cSnow accumulations may be highly variable however most areas will receive at least 2 centimetres with locally higher amounts possible. The snow will move northward and out of most regions on Sunday afternoon or late afternoon,\u201d says Environment Canada.<\/p>\n
