SELLERSVILLE, Pa. – A Temple University police officer serves more than just the North Philadelphia community.<\/p>\n
He also serves his hometown in Bucks County.<\/p>\n
Officer Jeremy Mask created the annual ‘Concert for a Cure’ in memory of his brother, Ryan, who died in 2008 from Sanfilippo Syndrome at the age of 17.<\/p>\n
The event helps to raise funds and awareness for other genetic disorders.<\/p>\n
Mask said they used to do an annual 5K walk when Ryan was still alive but he created Concert for a Cure for Ryan’s love of music.<\/p>\n
“He could never really run or walk. So I wanted to do something in his memory. You know, bring music into his memory. And let other people know that this is what he enjoyed,” said Jeremy Mask, Ryan’s brother and Temple University Police Officer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Mask family says with each person that becomes aware – that is one step closer to finding a cure for genetic disorders.<\/p>\n
