\n\tParamount<\/a> Pictures is not moving forward with Max Landis<\/a>\u2018 G.I. Joe<\/a> movie, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n

\n\tLandis was originally tapped by the studio to work on a treatment for a feature adaptation of the Hasbro toy brand and one of their key IP franchises, G.I. Joe, THR exclusively reported in February<\/a>. The project was supposed to be a comeback for the creative following sexual misconduct allegations from 2017 to 2019.<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, Paramount has now passed on Landis\u2019 treatment for the film, though the studio is still in talks with other writers and awaiting scripts. One of them was The Righteous Gemstones star Danny McBride, who was hired to work on a separate script for Joe. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Shooter) is the producer behind the Joe movies. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tParamount did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tLandis, the son of Trading Places director John Landis, is a screenwriter who was accused of sexual misconduct during the height of the #MeToo movement and hasn\u2019t worked since 2019. At the time, numerous women came forward and spoke about Landis\u2019 alleged behavior and accused him of sexual and emotional abuse. Following a 2019 expose by The Daily Beast<\/a>, he was dropped by his representatives at CAA and Writ Large, and projects he had in the works died. No charges were filed against Landis.<\/p>\n

\n\tThree years ago, Landis addressed what he called serious mistakes in relationships and described himself as a toxic partner to his girlfriends. \u201cI get why certain people hate me,\u201d he said in a YouTube video at the time.<\/p>\n
