PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. <\/strong> \u2013 A Ponte Vedra Beach man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to posing as a tutor to try to entice a \u201cchild\u201d for sex<\/a>, according to the United States Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Kevin Wilson, 39, was arrested in July 2024 and charged by criminal complaint with attempted enticement and coercion of a minor.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, on July 20, a social media user posted a public message in a Facebook group seeking a tutor for a child. On the day of the post, an individual, posing as a woman, but later identified as Wilson, reached out and directed the poster to contact her \u201chusband,\u201d Wilson, by text message, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

The poster contacted Wilson and had a short text conversation. The poster said she was seeking tutoring assistance for an 11-year-old child. Wilson sent a photo of himself and asked for a photo of the child. The poster later contacted the St. Johns County Sheriff\u2019s Office about the interaction.<\/p>\n

On July 24, an undercover detective posing as the guardian of a 12-year-old female \u201cchild\u201d reached out to Wilson about tutoring services. After the undercover detective initiated the conversation, investigators said Wilson began discussing sexual topics involving the \u201cchild\u201d and meeting the \u201cchild\u201d to perform sexual acts with the \u201cchild.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson also spoke to undercover detectives portraying the 12-year-old female child via phone and text message. Wilson and the undercover detective portraying the guardian of the \u201cchild\u201d ultimately agreed to meet at a predetermined location for Wilson to engage in sexual acts with the \u201cchild,\u201d investigators said. Wilson traveled to the predetermined meeting location that evening and was arrested.<\/p>\n

The case was investigated by the St. Johns County Sheriff\u2019s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
