Representative Adriano Espaillat<\/a>\u00a0has announced the start of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition and is inviting all high school students in New York\u2019s 13th congressional district to participate.<\/p>\n The deadline for this year\u2019s entries is Wednesday, April 1st.\u00a0<\/p>\n Each spring,\u00a0Rep. Espaillat<\/a>\u00a0hosts the art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent from across his district to participate in the national contest. Since the national competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students from across the country have participated.<\/p>\n How to Participate:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Check to see if you live or attend school in\u202fNew York\u2019s 13th Congressional District<\/p>\n 2. Visit online to\u00a0read\u00a0<\/a>the 2026 Rules for Students and Teachers<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0Complete\u00a0<\/a>the Student Release Form<\/p>\n 4. Participants must submit a digital copy of their artwork and student release form to Laurie Tobias-Cohen by email at\u00a0laurie.tobias-cohen@mail.house.gov\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0by Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.<\/p>\n The artwork may be:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.<\/p>\n \u2022 Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (it is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed)<\/p>\n \u2022 Collages: must be two dimensional<\/p>\n \u2022 Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints<\/p>\n \u2022 Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.<\/p>\n \u2022 Computer-generated art<\/p>\n \u2022 Photographs<\/p>\n \u00a0All entries must be original in concept, design and execution and may not violate U.S. copyright laws.<\/p>\n The winner will be eligible to receive:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Year-long exhibition of their artwork in the U.S. Capitol The first and second runners-up will have their artwork displayed in\u00a0Rep. Espaillat\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Washington, D.C. office and Honorable Mentions will be displayed in the district offices for one year.
